Customers want to have up-to-date products. Whether it is a product that has updated technology or a product that currently is in style, customers want these products. Businesses want to stay up-to-date with the products they are offering so they can keep their current customers and gain new customers. Of course there are other elements that go into whether or not someone does business with a company but the type of products offered are one of the main selling points.
The hospitality industry is no different than any other industry in wanting to keep up with the times. What is popular now, may no longer be what someone wants tomorrow. Being on the hospitality supplier side of things, it is interesting to see the product changes our company has gone through since 1980. I thumb through old catalogs to see popular products of ago, and it is amazing to see the different options that were available. For instance, green used to be a very popular menu cover color, almost as much as the color black. The color was so popular that we kept some green menu cover products in stock.
I fast forward to today and what is popular. In the almost two years that I have been with the company, there is one line of products that always comes up in conversations with customers in the industry. This product line continues to evolve and I see new creative designs from our menu design team all the time. The product line that I am speaking of is menu boards.
With the popularity of this product line the same as it was a year ago (and maybe even more popular), we will revisit my blog post from June 2016, on “Why You Should Consider Menu Boards for Your Establishment”. The post has been updated for a new line of menu boards – The Driftwood Collection.
Why You Should Consider Menu Boards for Your Establishment
June 28, 2016
The restaurant industry is constantly changing. From trends in the styles of food being served to where people are eating, this industry is always evolving and countless new trends are popping up. In addition to the changes in what and where food is being served, how food and drink offerings are presented to the customer is changing. One of the newer and trendy ways to showcase your menu options is the menu board.
Like traditional menu covers, menu boards attractively display your menu options but unlike traditional menu covers, have a slightly different look. The main difference in the look is that boards, instead of covers, display your menu offerings. Menu boards are the perfect choice for showcasing your regular menus, drink or specials menus, and because of the ease of changing out menu inserts, this is a popular choice for restaurants with specials that change nightly or seasonal menus. With the flexibility of changing out menu inserts, there are no expensive menu changes with menu boards, as the insert is all you need to change.
With Menu Designs known for custom menu options, you have many choices when it comes to designing your menu board. Customization options include the type of menu board material, how your menu is secured and your logo design. Here’s a little more about the different options to choose from when creating your unique menu board:
Board Materials Options
Acrylic – If you are looking for a sturdy board that is available in a variety of colors to match your restaurant’s decor, the acrylic menu board may be best for your establishment. Acrylic menu boards add a glossy flair to any tabletop, and are perfect for wine, cocktail, and dessert menus.
Bamboo – Bamboo conveys an image of strength, but also has an element of simplicity to it. In addition, this material is also eco-friendly! While bamboo menu boards can fit in anywhere, these boards are a particularly good fit with farm-to-table and organic eateries.
Wood - Wood menu boards have the versatility of looking edgy or antique, classic or trendy, depending on how you customize your board. Choose from ten different stain options ranging from Light Natural to Dark Espresso, with Red Sedona in between.
Colorful - Our colorful menu boards are available in a rainbow of bright colors with either a distressed finish or damask pattern. Colorful clipboard menus are great for adding a pop of color or a playful accent to your decor. Light and dark natural board options, without distressing or pattern, are also available.
The Driftwood Collection - This collection of menu boards is inspired by water and its effects on wood. Choose from four different stain options.
Bands – Two notches on the top and bottom of your menu boards are created, and bands fit in those notches to secure the insert to the boards. White and black bands are stocked, with the option for custom band colors. With this style of securing the menu board, a paper menu can be secured to both sides of the menu board.
Clip – Our clipboard style of menu board secures your menu inserts with a clip. Choose from one of our two clip options: dome or levor clip. Since we are a custom manufacturer, if you want a different clip option, we can probably create it! Like a traditional clipboard, this menu board style can hold more than one menu page.
Screen Printed – Screen print your logo in various color options on your menu board.
Laser Etched – Engrave your logo on one of our menu board materials. As an additional option, you can choose to fill the etched logo with a color.
In addition to these design options, menu boards are offered in a variety of standard sizes but custom sizes are available. For another use in a restaurant, consider using a menu board as a check presenter to hold your receipts and even a customer comment card. Not in the food industry? Not only are our menu boards great for restaurants and bars, but these boards can be used at hotels, spas, country clubs and anywhere else you need to provide information to customers.
Whether it is a menu board, a menu cover or even a table menu holder, Menu Designs can create what you need to attractively display your menus.
