Menu Designs Relaunches the Digital Menu Case with D3O® High Impact Protection!
Menu Designs is excited to announce the world’s first Digital Menu Case to pass MIL-STD-810G, Method 516.6. What does this mean? This means in the fast pace environment of hotels and restaurants you can rest easy knowing your digital menu is protected from drops!
Menu Designs has been in the business of creating custom menu covers since 1980. As time has evolved and digital menus have started to become popular in restaurants, Menu Designs has evolved too. We have started to create custom digital menu cases using the same quality and attention to detail that is used for our menu covers. While creating our digital menu case, we wanted our case to make an impact more so than it already did with the quality design and materials that are used in the construction of all our products. With tablets costing much more than a paper menu insert, and knowing that menus are often dropped, we set to find a way to not only provide a stylish case but to also provide high impact protection for the tablet with our case. We found a material that would do just that and now we are excited to announce the new Digital Menu Case with D3O®!
You may be wondering what exactly is D3O®. D3O® is a unique material in that in its raw state flows freely when moved slowly, but on shock, locks together to absorb and disperse energy, before instantly returning to its flexible state. The reaction is counter intuitive. The greater the force of the impact, the more the molecules lock together and the greater the protection. What does the addition of D3O® in the Menu Designs’ Digital Menu Case mean for your tablet? We put the D3O® Impact Protection Technology in your case lining so if your tablet is dropped, the properties of D3O® will protect your tablet. In short, by putting D3O® in the lining of our digital menu case, if the tablet is dropped the force of the impact from the fall will be absorbed by the D3O® material and not your tablet.
We could simply tell you that the D3O® digital menu case provides impact protection but we also have conducted tests to support it. We dropped our Digital Menu Case with D3O®, containing an iPad Air, 26 times from a height of 96”. Note this height is twice the height required for a drop test in accordance with the MIL-STD-810G, Method 516.6. After the 26 drops, there was no damage to the working iPad Air. Results like this are probably why D3O® is also found in some products used in sports, motorcycle, industrial, defense and other electronic sectors for impact protection.
As previously mentioned, the addition of D3O® will not affect the ability to customize the case. You can still choose from the numerous material and decoration options when customizing your digital menu case. You can design a case that will match your style and décor, while not losing any functionality of the tablet as our cover will not get in the way of your menu or the buttons needed! Additionally, while D3O® material is orange, the material will not be seen.
Another added benefit is the opportunity for additional brand visibility that is achieved with every use of the case. The more your guests see your brand elements (logos, brand colors, taglines, etc.), the greater the opportunity for increased brand awareness. Lastly, while our initial thought for this case was for the restaurant industry, this case would work well in other industries where tablets are used. For example, hotels can consider using the digital menu case for electronic guest directories at hotel check-in, the concierge desk or in guestrooms.
