What Is a Menu Book for Restaurants?
A menu book — also called a drink book, cocktail menu, or beverage binder — is a custom-bound presentation used by restaurants, bars, hotels, and nightclubs to display their drink offerings. Unlike a standard printed menu insert, a menu book is a durable, branded cover that holds your printed pages and is designed to be handled repeatedly by guests throughout service.

Menu books serve a dual purpose: they protect your printed menu inserts from spills and wear, and they present your brand in a polished, intentional way the moment a guest sits down. For bars and nightclubs where lighting is dim, the physical presence of a well-crafted drink book signals quality before a single cocktail is ordered.
At Menu Designs, every drink book is made to order in our Saint Augustine, Florida facility. You choose the binding style, the material, the size, and the branding — we build it to your specifications with a minimum order of 25 pieces.

How to design your Drink Menus?
There are several things that can help to make drink books communicate products that you have to offer effectively. The first is that they need to be designed with lots of vibrant photos and a clear description of what is in each cocktail, what wine and spirits you offer, beers you have on tap or bottle etc. Having a drink menu displayed on your tables is also a great way to market your happy hours, specialty cocktails, your own beer and more. You also want to incorporate your brand on these books. Showcase your logo on the front of each drink menu, and choose a material that matches the aesthetic of your restaurant. If you already have dinner menus, you can create a matching set or choose any similar material in our custom collections.

Creating a customized drink book with all of these elements will encourage customers to open up and order meaning an increase in your sales. Let us help you to make that possible! Drink Menu Materials & Covers
The outside cover of your drink book is where your brand makes its first impression. Menu Designs offers more cover material options than any other menu manufacturer, all available on any binding style on this page.
All materials are available with custom decoration including foil stamping, UV printing, laser etching, screen printing, and blind debossing. If you already have dinner menus with Menu Designs, we can match your drink books to the same material and finish for a cohesive table presentation,
Frequently Asked Questions — Drink Menu Books
What is the difference between a menu book and a menu cover?
A menu cover holds a single insert and lies flat on the table — it's designed for food menus that stay in place during service. A menu book, also called a drink book or beverage binder, uses a binding mechanism (rings, screw posts, or elastic band) to hold multiple pages and is typically handed directly to guests. Menu books are the standard format for cocktail menus, wine lists, and beverage programs because they allow for more pages and easier page-turning.
What binding styles are available for drink menu books?
Menu Designs offers four binding styles for drink books: ring binders (3-ring, available in black or nickel), screw post binding (Tuscon style, three posts on the spine), elastic band binding (Carson style, center spine band), and coil binding (spiral-bound, fully printed covers). Ring binders and screw posts are ideal for menus that need frequent insert changes. Coil binding is the most durable option for high-volume environments.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom drink menus?
The minimum order quantity for custom drink menu books is 25 pieces. For venues that need a single prototype before committing to a full order, we offer a prototype option for a one-time setup fee. Contact our team for prototype pricing.
How long does it take to produce custom drink menu books?
Lead time depends on the material, quantity, and whether your covers require a custom die for foil stamping or debossing. In-stock materials with UV printing typically ship faster than orders requiring offshore materials or custom tooling. Once your order is approved, our team will provide a specific estimated lead time. Rush production is available for an additional fee.
Can drink menu books be made waterproof?
Yes. Bullet Board covers are fully waterproof and weather-resistant, making them ideal for outdoor bars, pool service areas, and high-spill environments. Coil-bound drink menus printed on synthetic paper are also completely waterproof — the printed pages themselves will not absorb liquid or tear. Ask your representative about our waterproof drink menu options.
Can I match my drink menu books to my existing dinner menu covers?
Yes — this is one of the most common requests we receive. If you have existing dinner menu covers from Menu Designs, we keep your job specifications on file and can build your drink books in the same material, color, and finish. If your existing covers are from another supplier, share a sample and our team will work to match the look as closely as possible
